Microsoft have pushed back the Australian launch date of Xbox 360 by three weeks to March 23 citing ‘short term manufacturing challenges’ as the reason.
The console was due to be released on March 2 after being released in the US on November 22 2005.
In a press release Microsoft said: “The new launch dates have been set due to unprecedented global consumer demand stemming from challenges in ramping supply for a complex product like the Xbox 360.”
Microsoft also said that “steps have been taken to increase supply to provide adequate supplies at launch”.
The company said despite the shortages it is still on track to sell between 4.5 million and 5.5 million consoles worldwide by the end of June 2006.
