Microsoft’s Xbox One console will officially be supporting mouse and keyboard inputs starting on November 14, the company said at its XO18 event.
Microsoft announced Xbox One keyboard and mouse support back in September, and it’s now arriving on consoles next week supporting keyboard and mouse gameplay in 15 games.
Not all of Microsoft’s gaming offerings will provide keyboard and mouse support, individual game developers will need to work out if and how the feature will work with their games and patch them accordingly,
Only eight of the confirmed games will be available at launch, with Fortnite, the free to play third-person shooter game who has taken over the gaming world, is perhaps the most well known.
The other confirmed games include Warframe, Bomber Crew, Deep Rock Galactic, Strange Brigade, Vermintide 2, War Thunder, and X-Morph Defence.
The rest, which are “coming soon”, include Children of Morta, DayZ, Minion Master, Moonlighter, Vigor, Warface, and Wargroove
Microsoft also announced its official exclusive partnership with Razer to create a special “Designed for Xbox” mouse and keyboard which will be introduced at CES in January” 2019.
It will be interesting to see if gamers will be loyal to Microsoft or remain with their preferred gaming hardware from Razer’s competitors HyperX, SteelSeries, Logitech, and more.
In addition, Microsoft also announced that it plans to acquire two game development studios, Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment.
“These two creative teams will continue to operate autonomously and bring their unique talents, IP and expertise to Microsoft Studios as they build new RPG experiences for our players and fans,” Microsoft said.
