Microsoft who is set to launch their Kinect bundle this week in Australia are refusing to say whether they plan to lift the cost of their XBox Live service in Australia by up to $25.
Last night Microsoft said that gamers in the UK will be forced to pay an extra $25 a year to access the XBox Live service along with users in thev USA, Canada and Mexico.
“It will only be a matter of time before the Xbox Live price in Australia goes up” said an EB Games executive.
Hardcore Xbox gamers are expected to object to the price rise.
The Microsoft statement said “I wanted to let you know that as of November 1, 2010 we are increasing the price of an Xbox LIVE [membership] for some members. Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We’re confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry,” said a Microsoft spoksperson.
