Microsoft’s Xbox 360 player was the top-selling video-game console in the US last month with 297,000 units purchased at retail, according to a survey by research house NPD. Retail sales of Sony’s PlayStation 3 console grew 13 percent from a year ago to 204,300.
Overall US retail sales of consoles, software and peripherals such as Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing controller reached US$961.2 million, a 20 percent gain from $802.4 million a year earlier, according to New York-based NPD.
