Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has thrown down the gauntlet against Samsung and Huawei, by unveiling its world first ‘double foldable phone’, boasting not one, but two folding points.
The double-folding device was revealed on the social media website, Weibo, with the public asked to help brainstorm names.
The product’s emergence comes after renowned tech leaker, Evan Blass, post a video on Twitter in early January, depicting a similar device from an unverified source.
Since posting to Weibo on Wednesday, the video has already been played over 3 million times.
Can't speak to the authenticity of this video or device, but it's allegedly made by Xiaomi, I'm told. Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake? pic.twitter.com/qwFogWiE2F

Foldable phones are positioned to be a major smartphone trend for 2019, as vendors seek to lift flagship sales and spark replacement demand, amid one of the global market’s most severe slumps.
Late last year, Samsung unveiled a prototype version of its foldable phone, wa ith commercial release slated sometime this year.
Rival foldable phones are also set to be released from the likes of Huawei, LG and Motorola.
Despite rumblings of a few patent applications, Apple has remained relatively quiet about the possibility of a foldable iPhone.
