Yamaha has released a DTS:X firmware update for a number of its AV receivers, along with an AV processor, bringing the object-based, multi-dimensional audio technology to the home.The Aventage RX-A3050, RX-A2050 and RX-A1050 AV receivers, which all currently support Dolby Atmos, are eligible for the DTS:X update.
The Yamaha CX-A5100 AV preamp processor, also supporting Dolby Atmos, is also eligible for the update.
“DTS:X and Dolby Atmos are both object-based surround formats that place and move sounds freely in a three-dimensional axis, including overhead, as movie mixing engineers intended,” Yamaha explains.
“These new sound technologies are designed to engage the audience by creating realism through a lifelike multi-dimensional audio experience.”
With the CX-A5100, Yamaha also enables Cinema DSP, a proprietary sound field processor, to be applied to both DTS:X and Dolby Atmos during playback, which it states provides for the user to “be immersed even further and feel as if they are right in the middle of the scene”.
