Yamaha has picked up a Good Design Award in Australia for its Relit LSX-70 Portable Lighting/Audio System, with the Good Design judges praising the LSX-70’s originality, design and manufacturing.Yamaha describes the LSX-70 – which received recognition in the awards’ Product Design: Consumer Electronics category – as a “departure in design” from its more traditional lifestyle audio systems, with the LSX-70 fusing ambient lighting with 360 degree non-directional music streaming.
The cylindrical LSX-70, available in black, champagne gold and bronze, is designed to present itself as much as a furniture piece as a Bluetooth speaker. It measures 9.4 cm in diameter and sports a textured synthetic leather finish, with two speakers at the top and bottom of the unit designed to produce 360 degree non-directional sound.
The LSX-70’s rechargeable battery provides for up to around eight hours of battery life, while Yamaha’s DTA Controller app allows a range of remote smart device functionality.
“The Yamaha LSX-70 Portable Lighting/Audio System is a beautifully executed piece of design – beautiful to look at and even more beautiful to listen to,” the Good Design judges commented. “This is an extremely competitive market and it is refreshing to see something new and original with this level of design and manufacturing.”
