IPhone users have reported YouTube’s app is over draining iPhone and iPad battery life. The video app drains charge even if people don’t have the app open on their device.
One user even took to Twitter to complain that their smartphone had lost over 20% charge in just 30 minutes, because of the popular videos app.
Some users have linked the troubles with battery life to the Apple’s iOS 11.1.x update. This problem also could be a matter of the app’s latest update being poorly optimised.
Users to avoid the YouTube app draining your iPhone or iPad need to force quit the app, which can be accessed through the multitasking menu. An option is enabled by double pressing the home button, from their you can swipe YouTube out to force close the app.
The iPhone also has a function for users to check how much battery life is being utilised by each app that is open, as well as how long those apps has been used for.
YouTube has expressed their commitment to fixing the problem and urged consumers to be patient via Twitter.
‘Appreciate the report, this is something we’re actively working on. Thanks for your patience.’
