Laneway Festival 2011 which is currently underway across Australia is being broadcast live from YouTube in a first for the broadcaster.
The festival which began in the humble surroundings of St Jerome’s legendary bar along Melbourne’s Calendonian lane, hit Melbourne over the weekend and arrives in Adelaide on the 11th and Perth on 12th.
Concert goers who can’t make the action live can now switch on to YouTube to get in on the live action.
YouTube has upped its ante of video offerings, showing a host of live events streamed on the broadcasting site, best known for its amateur videos shown to audiences around the globe.
“YouTube is now more than just dogs on skateboards,” said an insider from its Sydney based Australian operation.
The Google owned subsidiary launched VEVO in 2009, a collaboration with Universal Music offering premium music and video entertainment.
