LG’s new range of HDR-enabled OLED TV’s are changing the home-theatre game in more ways than one. Along with being able to play HDR and 4K Ultra HD quality video, LG’s OLED range is bringing Dolby Vision to Australian homes.
Where Ultra HD delivers on the potential of 10-bit colour panel, Dolby Vision surpasses it with 12. Dolby Vision video content has been remastered on a scene-by-scene level and uses metadata to optimize the output to your screen’s technical specs to ensure the best results.

Whether you’re an early adopter of OLED or someone still watching from the sidelines, the big question surrounding Dolby Vision isn’t whether the results live up to their potential but whether there’s enough content to justify the added expense.

Mad Max: Fury Road

If there’s any film that’s sure to make for a lovely day experience, George Miller’s post-apocalyptic masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road is sure to be it. The scorched landscapes, the jagged costumes and the relentless action all play out better with Dolby Vision. Though the film was only released last year, it’s quickly garnered a huge following and there’s no better way to revisit the film than this.
The Revenant
Fury Road is far from the only Oscar-nominated film that’s been remastered in Dolby Vision. Alejandro Gonz?lez I??rritu’s frontier epic The Revenant has also received the OLED-ready treatment. Featuring ultra-authentic costumes, sets and performances – The Revenant is a film worth returning to.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Even in a year that touted an Avengers and X films, there was hardly a bigger film released last year than Star Wars: The Force Awakens. JJ Abrams’ continuation of the beloved science fiction franchise was all fans wanted and more – making it an ideal purchase for anyone looking to get the most out of their new OLED TV. The film featured rich visual locales, from the deserts of Jakku to the Maz’s cosmopolitan cantina. While it’s hard to top the experience of Star Wars in a cinema, Dolby Vision is certain to give it a shot.
Marco Polo
Netflix’s first major Dolby Vision remaster is its oriental historical-fantasy series Marco Polo. Set during the height of the Mongol Empire, the series sees young Venetian Marco Polo stranded and forced to survive in the court of Kublai Khan. It’s a highly visual series with incredible and intricate production design that’s sure to shine on OLED.
Marvel’s Daredevil
One of the key selling points attached to HDR video and Dolby Vision is the fact that OLED technology allows for a perfect black canvas – and what better series to make use of that canvas that Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil. The gritty crimefighting drama’s most compelling scenes often take place in the most tenebrous of places and Dolby Vision and OLED offer you the chance to see them with fresh eyes.
