A lot of users do not switch their products off at the wall and would rather put all their gadgets on standby mode (like LCD TV for example). The Earth Smart surge protector has six sockets: a master outlet that determines the on and off power levels of the power board and five ‘Standby Eliminator’ outlets that is used to plug ‘slave’ components.

Users can find a Peripheral ON indicator that indicates whether power is flowing to the Master and Peripherals, a Power OK indicator, a ‘Protected’ indicator, and a mains power switch on top of the unit. The left side of the unit hosts the coaxial (antennae) protection ports and the knobbing switch that adjusts standby wattage, while the right side hosts the circuit breaker switch that protects against overloads.

The unit has a maximum spike current of 144,000 amps and a maximum surge of 3,672 joules, with Crest offering an unlimited connected equipment warranty should any connected equipment be damaged from a power disturbance.

Sure it looks just like any other power board, but what’s so special about the Earth Smart is its ‘standby eliminator’ feature that will save you money.

Connecting any A/V equipment to the board is as simple as plugging it into a wall socket. What is important here is that users should decide which equipment is going to act as the ‘master’ appliance. If the master appliance is turned on, all devices will become active. But once the master appliance is turned off, the board automatically turns off the ‘Standby Eliminator’ outlets.

This process prevents the slave components from drawing on wasteful standby power until the master device is turned back on.

While there is no way for a user to keep their cords neat and tidy, the Earth Smart should definitely be one of those equipments worth purchasing to protect your expensive gear and reduce carbon emissions.
