Pentax has unveiled a fresh take on the mirrorless camera segment with their bold K-01.
The new camera deviates from the common looking sleek designs found in other mirrorless offerings, adopting a shape influenced by yesteryear’s cam, but discerned by modern flair.

A bold yellow material wraps around its angular body, including the protruding grip found on the right hand side. It’s asymmetrical, with the lens favouring the left hand side, and is accentuated by bespoke controls that simply add to its confident character.

They say beauty is on the inside and most will think that’s the case with the k-01. It features:
· 16MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
· 3 inch LCD screen with 920k dots
· Records 1080p video at 30fps, while doubling the frame rate (60fps) at 720p
· ISO ranging from 100-25,600
· 6fps burst mode
· Shake reduction system

The sensor is worthy of its own mention as it is the same size as those found in most DSLR cams, however it has influenced this mirrorless cam’s size. On the slim front though is a 40mm F/2.8 XS pancake lens which can be bundled with the k-01 at the point of sale.
The K-01 will cost US$750 alone or US$900 with the pancake lens. The lens has a standalone price of US$250. Unfortunately there’s been no word on Australian pricing or availability.
