Apple is gunning for Google as the patent war stretches to Android OS.

Apple has filed a fresh patent claim against Google’s Android Jelly Bean 4.1- the latest version of the OS many of its rivals including Samsung, HTC and Motorola (owned by Google) all run on.
Cupertino claims Jelly Bean 4.1 violates its patented technologies.
Arch rival Samsung is also the brunt of Apple’s fresh patent claim once again. This time Cupertino is claiming the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet infringes upon its patent technology, in claim made in a San Jose Federal court to U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul S. Grewal, reports Bloomberg.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 runs on Android 4.0 comes with a stylus and Cupertino wants to ‘add 17 devices that could use a stylus’ to its patent claim against Samsung, Apple’s lawyer said in court, although many of the ‘devices’ don’t actually come with a digital pen.
None of Apple’s iPads come with a stylus, either.
Apple is also adding Google Nexus smartphone which runs on Jelly Bean to its litany of claims, having failed to ban the device from sale in the US, earlier in the year.
Google’s $249 Nexus 7 sold here in OZ, also runs the Jelly Bean OS.
This marks a shift in Apple’s strategy in going directly after arch rival Google in its long running battle with Samsung, who is currently winning the mobile OS battle, latest analysts figures show.
This move may also be Apple’s payback for Samsung filing a claim against its flagship iPhone 5 last month, claiming it infringes upon its wireless technology, after Apple went after Samsung’s hero Galaxy S 3, claiming it too infringed upon its patented technology.
Apple and Samsung, both leaders in the mobile market, are battling it out in courts throughout the world including Europe and Australia in a tit-for-tat battle, involving everything from the iPhone, iPad to Samsung’s Galaxy line of smartphones, including the S3 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet.
The case will be heard in 2014.
