Acer has cut a mega brand deal with PBL to become the sole sponsor of the worlds second largest entertaiment venue behind Madison Squuare Gardens.
Acer who have been burning up market share in the Australian market over the past few years much to the pain of big brands like HP and IBM as well as consumer technology brands like Sony and LG have made a massive brand investment by cutting a five-year sponsorship agreement with PBL for naming rights to the Sydney SuperDome’s which will see it re-branded as Acer Arena.
The sponsorship is made possible with the support of Intel who will promote their Viiv technology. Billed as Australia’s number one indoor entertainment venue and number two worldwide, just behind Madison Square Garden, the entertainment centre will take on its new identity from 12 May 2006, spearheading Acer’s drive to become Australia’s number one consumer technology brand.
The sponsorship Acer claim will allow them, Intel and the SuperDome to deliver a new level of entertainment experience at Acer Arena, but plans are also in place to deliver hours of on-demand, Internet-delivered digital entertainment direct to people’s homes.Acer claim that they will use the sponsorship as an important brand building opportunity for the Company.

Intel will use the Arena sponsorship to promote its newly released Viiv technology platform. Intel Viiv technology delivers the computing performance to support high-definition entertainment including the latest online content, DVDs, games and music, ushering in a new era of home entertainment.
