IKEA’s budget smart light products will soon be adding support for voice control through Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Home devices.
The Trådfri Smart Lighting range saw a release in select European markets last year before a wider release in March this year. Trådfri products include a range of LED bulbs and a gateway for network connectivity, as well as a remote control and kits for dimming and motion sensing.
“We believe that smart home technology should be accessible to everyone. For this reason, we will continue to work with our products to be compatible with other products available on the market,” IKEA said in a translated press released (via Mac Rumors).
Compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Home will be added to Trådfri in mid- to late-2017 in overseas markets. IKEA told Lifehacker the Smart Lighting collection will be available in Australia starting early 2018.
Pricing hasn’t yet been announced for Australia, but in overseas markets, IKEA prices the Trådfri range cheaper than similar products from smart lighting competitors like Philips Hue.
