The next iPhone which is tipped for a June announcement could be up for a big price drop as Apple moves to compete with a swag of new Android Smartphones.
The New York Times said that Apple is considering making its next iPhone cheaper than previous versions, but not smaller, according to a report at the weekend, the latest in a series of media glimpses of what Apple is planning next.
Citing “people briefed on Apple’s plans” thewy claim Apple is weighing making the iPhone less expensive in order to make it more attractive than competing phones. However, contrary to previous reports, the company is not looking to develop a smaller device, with the next iPhone the same size as the iPhone 4, the Times said. Apple would make the iPhone cheaper to make by changing some internal components.
Apple is also planning to add voice commands to the iPhone, the report said. Apple has traditionally introduced new iPhone models at its World Wide Developers’ Conference in June.
