Ffalcon, the exclusive television brand sold through Australian retailers JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, is set to receive a significant update in 2026 with the launch of a new QD-Mini LED television lineup featuring integrated Onkyo audio.
The brand, manufactured by TCL — the world’s largest television producer and a company recently approved to manufacture premium Sony TVs — will introduce the Ffalcon Thunderbird 2026 Crane 7 Pro QD-Mini LED series.
The range will be available in four screen sizes: 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch and 98-inch models.
The Ffalcon brand was introduced in Australia as a value-focused replacement for the SoniQ television range previously sold by JB Hi-Fi.
The upcoming Ffalcon models are expected to continue targeting the affordable premium segment, although local pricing for the 2026 lineup has not yet been announced.
The new series will feature QD Mini LED Butterfly Wing HVA panels with a 7000:1 static contrast ratio, designed to deliver deeper blacks and brighter highlights. TCL has also incorporated low-reflection coatings that reduce glare to 1.8% and ultra-thin bezels designed to provide close to 100% screen coverage.
The Mini LED backlighting system will offer up to 3,840 local dimming zones on the 98-inch model and support XDR brightness technology capable of reaching up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. The displays also use Quantum Dot Pro 2026 technology, delivering up to 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
For gaming and high-motion content, the televisions support 4K resolution with a 150Hz refresh rate, along with variable refresh rates up to 300Hz. Additional gaming features include MEMC motion processing, automatic low-latency mode and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, aimed at reducing screen tearing, input lag and motion blur.
The TVs also support multiple HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced.
Audio will be handled by an integrated Onkyo 2.2.2 Hi-Fi speaker system, comprising eight drivers with upward-firing channels designed to deliver Dolby Atmos surround sound effects, along with built-in subwoofers for enhanced bass.
Powering the televisions is a MediaTek MT9655 processor, supported by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Connectivity includes four HDMI 2.1 ports, Wi-Fi 6 and USB 3.0, with support for media playback protocols such as FTP and WebDAV.
Separately, TCL has also unveiled two new gaming monitors globally: the 27P2A Ultra Mini LED, featuring an ultra-high 1040Hz refresh rate, and the 27C3A Pro QD-Mini LED, which offers dual display modes of 4K at 165Hz or Full HD at 320Hz.
It remains unclear whether either monitor will be released in the Australian market.
