Despite receiving over 70 awards and honours at this year’s CES, recent reports claim LG will broadly release its world-first rollable TV in 2020.
Reported by Tom’s Guide, Hyun-Jin Kim, the head of LG’s Planning & LG Signature R Task Team, reveals the OLED TV R will initially launch in Korea later this year, with broader global release the year after.
The news follows previous reports the product would release late 2019 – now seemingly limited to Korea.
Whilst Kim remained tight-lipped on pricing, the TV is set to inhabit the ultra-premium market, with exact countries of broader launch to be announced.
The news follows the unveiling of LG’s 88-inch OLED 8K TV, which will release in the United States in the second half of 2019.
A 75-inch 8K TV is reportedly also in the works, with anything sub 70-inches deemed inappropriate for showcasing its ultra-high definition.
The new LG OLED rollable is tipped to mirror its other Signature sets including; HDR10 Dolby Vision, Technicolor and HLG.
