LG V30 Tipped To Follow Samsung’s Lead On Design

While LG’s biggest phone of the year, the G6, is already out and about in the Australian market, the latest in their most interesting series of handsets has still yet to be officially revealed.

What’s more, reports say that the new smartphone will follow in the footsteps of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and feature an edge-to-edge display.

According to a report out of The Investor, LG’s Display division is set to supply OLED panels “similar to the curved screens used in Samsung Electronics’ flagship models” to both the company’s mobile arm and rival Xiaomi.

Sources told The Investor that the panels are likely to be featured in the two handset makers’ bigger-screen models (LG’s V series and Xiaomi’s Mi Note), expected to arrive towards the back half of 2017.

LG’s V10 and V20 have mostly been noteworthy handsets because of how many unique features have been packed into them.

However, early rumors and leaks have suggested that LG is looking to drop the secondary ‘ticker’ display found in the V10 and V20.

The omission of the ticker display makes all the more sense if LG are indeed making the jump to an edgeless display.

Their most recent flagship smartphone, the G6, did not feature an edge-to-edge display but did offer up an 18:9 aspect ratio.
