American home automation company and Samsung subsidiary, SmartThings, recently announced an expanded partnership with Philips Hue.
The new partnership facilitates exclusive updates and greater control of the Philips Hue Sync TV App through SmartThings which is “designed to elevate home automation and enhance control of light sync.”
The Philips Hue Sync TV App synchronises lighting with the Samsung TV screen to create immersive viewing experiences.
With SmartThings, users can adjust the brightness of their Philips Hue lights, switch between Video, Game and Music mode, and even start or stop the light sync.
The app is compatible with Samsung QLED TVs from the Q60 series or higher from 2022 onwards. Users can install the Philips Hue Sync app on their new TVs. The app replaces the need for external Hue Sync Box hardware.
Geographically, the Philips Hue Sync TV app will also be extended to additional countries around the world including Brazil, Hong Kong, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
Apart from a one-time purchase option, Philips Hue has also introduced a monthly subscription option for the Philips Hue Sync TV App.

Earlier this year at CES 2024, Samsung announced a range of smart home appliances powered by AI features. Some of the appliances announced included an induction cooktop, washer and dryer combo, slide-in range, and refrigerator.
