If you put your phone through hell on a daily basis, then this device is for you. Telstra Tough 2 is a rugged designed handset, water and dust resistant with abrasion-resistant case.
The new toughie in town on Next G also has 2.4-inch scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass screen, IP54 rating and the screen can be read in the sun.
Its specifically designed for work in the field, on construction sites and out on the road who need a phone that can handle wear and tear, says Telstra.
Specs wise it has all the usual features: a 3 megapix camera, MP3 player and FM radio, Bluetooth. ‘It also has big buttons for easy dialing.
And it is a handy tool on the move – with in-built assisted-GPS navigation, speakerphone and a direct antenna connection that enables Tough 2 to integrate with a direct RF car kit, although this isn’t available just yet.
“You can toss the Tough 2 into a toolbox or the cab of your ute and not worry about knocking the life out of it or scratching the screen. It’s also a great companion for people who love the outdoors and activities like hanging out at the beach, camping, fishing or mountain bike riding,” says Telstra Exec Director Mobility Products, Warwick Bray. .
It also comes with the telco’s Blue Tick which means it will deliver top coverage in regional and rural coverage areas.
Tough 2 can be purchased for $360 outright or on plans including Mobile Member and Business Mobile Maximiser, for $10 per month on a $20 Mobile Member Plan for 24 months (min cost $720).
Business customers can purchase it for $0 upfront on a Telstra Business Mobile Maximiser $49 Plan over 24 months (min cost is $1,176). This includes $450 worth of standard national calls and messages and 1GB of data to use in Australia.
