Leading Australian consumer electronics and appliance distributor, Tempo, is rolling out a new range of premium Philips TVs which will be sold via JB Hi Fi and The Good Guys.
The 8000 range includes a 4K Ultra High Definition 65” and 55 OLED which come with the latest Android TV operating system as well as Dolby Vision and HDR 10.
The OLED 803 adopts a minimalist look, with a brushed metallic finish. The panel itself is barely 4mm thin, swelling out only to incorporate electronics and sound system at the back.
The addition of three-sided Ambilight makes the TV ideal when watching movies or playing games this is achieved with tiny LED lights that run around the inside side and top of the small rear protrusion.
In Europe where the Philips brand is extremely strong these TVs have attracted 5-star reviews from leading reviewers.
Both JB Hi Fi and The Good Guys will be able to offer the top end Philips Fidelio soundbar with Google voice and a Philips premium TV. The combination is set to be a major threat to the OLED ambitions of both Hisense and TCL as well as Panasonic and Toshiba due in part to the use of the P5 Philips Perfect Picture Engine.
The 55” 4K Philips OLED TV is set to retail at both JB Hi Fi and TGG for sub $2,500 while the 65” model is set to be sub $3,500.
In the past Powermove was stopped by Gibson Brands the previous manufacturer of Philips audio products from supplying the premium Philips Fidelio alongside Philips TV’s at JB Hi Fi.
Tempo management said that they will also release a 7300 Series Ultra Slim 4K UHD LED Android TV range at the same time as their new OLED TV’s. Their will be two models in the range including a 55” and 65” model.
Also, being released is a Philips 6000 Series range in 50”, 55” and 58” sizes.
According to Tempo management both The Good Guys and JB Hi Fi are now able to offer consumers “A leading European TV brand, featuring cutting edge TV technology, Android TV capabilities that gives consumers access to all of the Play Store services as well as Netflix on the remote” they said.
“An additional benefit is that a Philips TV owner can now seamlessly integrate a Philips soundbar with Google Voice and control their TV, these are products that are highly popular in Europe and are designed by one of the worlds leading sound and TV Display Companies”.
