Twitter Trolls Crashing iPhones With Telugu ‘Text Bomb’

Twitter trolls are taking advantage of the latest iOS design flaw, by embedding a unique Indian Telugu character in their username, to instantly crash a user’s iPhone when read.

Just last week, reports emerged iPhones would automatically crash when typing this particular Telugu character.

Users state when apps try and load the particular Telugu character, they instantly become engulfed in a series of crashes.

Some individuals are describing the character as a ‘text bomb’.

Devices running iOS11.2.5 or macOS are particularly vulnerable to the bug, as it affects iMessage, Facebook Messenger and Outlook for iOS.

Currently, iOS 11.3 is the only operating system immune from the Telugu character bug, and is only available to a few users for testing, before mass release.

Apple has acknowledged the problem, and has released a fix through iOS 11.2.6 – the 11th official update for its iOS 11 operating system.
