Panasonic has gone to great lengths to get their 3D message across with the world’s first 3D newspaper advertisement in the Asia-Pacific region.
I saw the advertisement first hand during a recent trip to Singapore and it was impressive. The four page insert came with a pair of 3D glasses and when viewed using the glasses, images literally jumped out from the page.
Designed to promote their new 50″ Viera 3D plasma TV, which was revealed last week in Australia, the advertisement proved a big hit with locals.
Daniel Tan, Assistant Director of Panasonic Singapore, explained: “Being the first full HD 3D Plasma TV to be launched in Singapore, we wanted an advertisement that would truly showcase the 3D experience and drive home the 3D message to the reader.”
Mr Clifton Yong, Executive Vice-President, Group Sales and Marketing for MediaCorp, the company that created the unique concept said: “This is the first time a local newspaper has adopted the technology for print. To create the special effect, the advertisement was first created in 2D, after which MediaCorp worked with digital imaging production firm Colourscan Company to render the advertisement in 3D, before it was finalised for print”.
