Daikin has unveiled a new energy-efficient underfloor heating system that is housed in one outdoor unit.Called Altherma Monobloc, the company claims that the system is energy efficient.
“In fact, a test-case Altherma heating/cooling system installed in a “green suburb” in the Adelaide plains (a SA government initiative) is already attracting lots of public interest,” said the company.
All Altherma air to water heat pumps extract heat from the outside air, raise its temperature, and then distribute warmth around the home via under-floor pipes, fan coils or radiators.
Altherma Monobloc is available in heating only or in reverse cycle (heating and cooling), and can be configured for new and retrofitted homes. Altherma also has a domestic hot water tank option available therefore it is capable of providing the home with various heating requirements including domestic hot water.
Daikin Altherma uses inverter technology, which gently increases or decreases power to suit prevailing conditions, instead of allowing wild fluctuations. This produces uninterrupted comfort and low running costs when compared with LPG-powered systems, and thus is popular in Australia and colder parts of New Zealand.
Daikin’s State Manager for SA/NT, Michael Hamilton said, “In Australia, we like big, open homes with no services inside. The Monobloc gives [you that]. It’s an exciting product and we think it’s got a lot of potential.”
