Like a prize fight between two equally destructive and evenly matched heavyweight boxers, it’s a back and forth monthly bruising between Microsoft and Sony, while at the same time the other contender fro the world championship crown, Nintendo is managing to trump both, with Wii sales thrashing Xbox 360 and PS3 combined.

According to NPD, Xbox 360 has won the latest round in the monthly battle over the Sony PlayStation 3, with sales of 195,000 for Xbox 360 and 185,000 sold of PS3.
But over in the blue corner, with 453, 000 and 518,000 for DS, Nintendo is fast becoming the world heavyweight champion.
Overall, NPD is estimating another record year fro the gaming industry, saying that 2008 will bring in over US$22 billion in sales across the globe.
According to a statement by NPD, “the industry is up 32 per cent year-to-date and remains on target to achieve annual revenues in the range of $US22 to $US24 billion”.
