Apple Moves To ‘Face ID’ For All 2018 Phones

KGI Securities Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has revealed that Apple will officially abandon TouchID/fingerprint sensors, and will be moving to FaceID for all 2018 iPhone models.

The analyst goes on to state that 3D sensing will be a “key selling point” for all 2018 iPhone models – the device’s TrueDepth cameras and Face ID should help the company “capitalize on its clear lead in 3D sensing design and production for smartphones”.

Reports state the components needed to manufacture FaceID are still causing Apple production issues.

Japan’s Nikkei Asian Review states suppliers are still struggling to complete manufacture of the iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera and its 3D facial recognition process.

Ming-Chi Kuo previously stated that Apple’s decision to roll out Face ID to all future iPhones was dependent on consumer reaction to the iPhone X.
