Amazon has announced their yearly hardware event will occur on September 25, reportedly including new Echo and Ring Alexa-enabled smart devices.
Last years’ event saw 12 new products hit the Amazon line up, focusing on partner integration with its Alexa smart assistant, including a microwave and wall clock.
This years’ range is expected to include a brand new high-end smart speaker to compete directly with Apple’s HomePod and the Google Home Max.
The Amazon event comes during a period of heavy scrutiny for smart speakers, after it was revealed Amazon contract workers had been listening to voice assistant audio recordings.
Alongside Google and Apple, Amazon has claimed to take steps to help improve their products by making voice recordings opt-in.
According to Bloomberg, the codenamed ‘Vesta’ premium speaker project is tipped to release soon, developed by Amazon Lab126.
