Canstar Blue has revealed the winners of its 2016 Innovation Excellence Awards for appliances, with four products recognised this year.Samsung’s AddWash washing machine, Coopers’ BeerDroid brewing system, the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and PITT cooking’s integrated burners were recognised, with more than 40 different products considered.
The awards, in their third year, aim “to recognise the best new appliances to launch in Australia within the last 18 months”, and are decided by a panel of Canstar Blue and external judges.
Head of Canstar Blue Megan Doyle stated that Canstar Blue is “pleased to award such a broad range of different consumer products in the appliance space, which are all about problem solving and convenience in their own ways”.
“A special mention goes to Dyson for earning its second Canstar Blue Innovation Excellence Award after the success of the AM10 Humidifier last year,” Doyle stated. “Dyson’s Supersonic hair dryer epitomises what these awards are all about – taking an appliance that has hardly changed for decades and giving it a ‘wow’ factor that will reignite interest.
“The same can be said for Samsung, having identified and resolved a genuine bugbear for households with a top-loader washing machine. It would take quite a lot to attract consumer interest in a new washing machine, but the AddWash range will come as close as anything.”
Doyle described Coopers’ BeerDroid as “something very special”, stating that it gives “beer-lovers the opportunity to accurately and conveniently experiment with their favourite drinks at home, without the mess and risks of traditional home brewing”.
“PITT cooking is all about giving consumers the freedom to design their own cooking space, regardless of the size of their kitchen or its style,” she commented.
“It’s a truly innovative concept that is bound to appeal to anyone who enjoys cooking at home, but feels frustrated by a lack of space because of traditional stovetops.”
