German speaker brand, Canton, has launched in Australia the CD 200 series of slim-line speakers for music and home theatre systems. The company said the new 200 series was designed to provide a mid-range option for consumers, between the original CD 100 series and high-end CD 300 series.
Canton said it has attempted to bring a new look to the 200 series speakers by employing a French industrial designer to create a design that will appeal to “Even the most discerning home decorator.” The speakers feature elliptical-shaped cabinets, brushed aluminium surfaces and a slim-line box design.
The new CD 200 series comprises of the CD 200 floor-standing speakers ($1699), the CD 250 centre speaker ($579) and the CD 220 rear speakers ($579). The centre speaker has a built-in stand and the rear speakers come with die-cast aluminium wall brackets. There is an optional speaker stand for the rear speakers (LS 105 $229), allowing some flexibility in set-up.
From mid-2006, the CD 200 Series will also be available in a piano-black finish. Other additions to the Australian Canton CD range will include the CD 3200 fully active speaker with digital amplifiers built into the cabinets and the CD 3500 wireless floor-standing speaker with integrated amplifiers and digital transmitter. Canton said Australian customers can expect these products in the local market in the second half of 2006.
