Arlo has announced its flagship 4K HDR wire-free security camera system, the Arlo Ultra, will land in Australia later this month (A$1049.99) – pledging one of the widest viewing angles on today’s wire-free security camera market.
Debuted at CES 2019, the 2-camera system includes a one-year subscription to Arlo’s AI and computer vision service ‘Smart Premier’ (A$129 value), offering detection of people, vehicles and more. (Includes 30-day video history cloud storage).
Brad Little, Vice President and Managing Director, Arlo Technologies APAC, asserts the Arlo Ultra is its most advanced DIY monitoring system yet:
“We’re excited to provide home, property and small business owners with a convenient system that not only delivers unmatched 4K HDR image quality, AI, and computer vision capabilities, but also enables streamlined smart home control.”
The flagship ‘Ultra’ is powered by the Arlo SmartHub, and will deliver additional support for Zigbee and Z-Wave compatible devices later this year.
Compatibility will enable Arlo users to control a wide range of “Works with Arlo” certified third-party products via the Arlo app, offering a centralised hub.
The security cameras offer “advanced” 4K HDR video quality with colour night vision, plus 180-degree panoramic field-of-view and an integrated spotlight.
The wide field of view provides users extra flexibility with the placement of cameras.
For added security, the system claims to offer crystal-clear two way audio with advanced noise cancellation – suitable for both home or business use.
Courtesy of HDR processing and an advanced image sensor, the Arlo Ultra captures and outputs 4K video quality from the lens to the user.
Users benefit from enhanced detail, with the ability to zoom in on video clips (e.g. view license plates).
The Arlo Ultra also boasts a robust LED integrated light to view colours in the dark, or illuminate traditional white night vision.
The system’s wire-free set-up and weather resistant design enables cameras to be places virtually anywhere, both indoors and outdoors.
The Ultra is powered by a newly designed rechargeable battery and magnetic charging cable.
For added security, a built-in siren can be automatically triggered by motion, audio detection or manually activated by the Arlo app.
Users can access cloud storage of 4K clips as an add-on subscription, or store 4K clips locally at no added cost via the SmartHub’s microSD card slot.
