Appliance brand CHiQ has introduced a compact hybrid upright freezer designed to offer flexible food storage while helping households maximise limited kitchen space.
Priced at $599, the freezer delivers a 145-litre capacity in a compact footprint, combining freezer and refrigerator functionality in a single unit. The appliance allows users to switch between multiple cooling modes including Freeze, Soft Freeze, Chill, Fridge, Cellar and Fast Freeze, enabling it to store everything from frozen goods to beverages and fresh produce.
A key feature is its hybrid design with dual slide-out drawers, intended to provide easier access and organisation for frozen and chilled items.
CHiQ has also integrated Total Frost Free technology, eliminating the need for manual defrosting while maintaining consistent temperatures throughout the cavity. Combined with the company’s inverter compressor system, the appliance is designed to operate more quietly while reducing energy consumption compared with traditional compressors.
The unit also includes a multi-air flow cooling system, which circulates chilled air evenly across shelves to maintain stable temperatures and improve food preservation.
One of the more unusual design elements is the appliance’s reinforced top surface, which can tolerate temperatures of up to 100°C. This allows users to safely place benchtop appliances such as a microwave or air fryer on top of the freezer, freeing up valuable counter space.
Additional features include a door alarm, which alerts users if the door has been left open for an extended period, as well as low-noise operation designed for quieter home environments.
The freezer measures 600mm wide, 900mm high and 685mm deep, with a net weight of 40kg. It carries a 5-star energy rating for fridge operation and a 3-star rating for freezer operation.
CHiQ backs the appliance with a three-year product warranty and a 10-year warranty on compressor parts, positioning the model as a long-term option for households looking for flexible cold storage in a compact form factor.
