Computer accessory specialist Logitech has created a mobile mouse for use on couches, beds and carpets.
It’s only when you try to use a computer mouse anywhere other than on a flat mouse-pad that you realise how restricted computer mouses are. Logitech just announced its M515 ‘Couch Mouse’ is set to make browsing a PC more of a lounge room affair with its unique take on the typical point-and-clicker.
The Couch Mouse features a smooth base that makes for ease of movement over fabric surfaces as well as a sealed bottom so that the sensor on the mouse doesn’t get clogged with dust at the same time. With home networking pushing computer functionality onto TVs, the Couch Mouse allows for PC browsing while sitting on the couch without tedious use of a remote control.
Hand detection hardware lets the mouse know when you’re holding it and sleeps when you’re not, improving battery life on the unit that can last up to two years.
The M515 is currently available in the US for US$50 but Logitech Australia is awaiting Australian availability, estimated to be coming in the next month or two. Based on price comparisons of other Logitech mouses between Australia and the US, the mouse could be up to double the US price tag, though no confirmations yet.
