Taiwanese network Company D-Link, who grew their share of the Australian market by 19% last year is looking for further growth in 2017 with the launch of several new products spanning network and IOT management devices.

According to the Managing Director of D Link Australia the Company has witnessed an “exceptional” increase in demand for their Smart Plugs that allow consumers to manage appliance and power management across a home network while at the same time they have been able to grow sales of routers as consumers look to move to faster home Wi Fi.

According to analysts the monitoring of home energy supply and resources is set to grow “significantly” in Australia due in part to the recent heatwaves that have seen the demand for water and electricity climb.maxresdefault 2 D Link Grows By 19% As Consumers Take To Power Monitoring Devices
Total electricity usage in NSW alone increased by 7.5 per cent in January in Victoria it went up 8.3% and in South Australia 9.2% compared to the same period last year, driven largely by householder’s efforts to combat the extreme heatwave claims analysts.

Mojo estimates that electricity usage for those using air conditioning will soar by more than 7.5 per cent which will lead to a bill shock for many.

According to Reardon households can better control their electricity use by installing a new generation Smart Plug. He cites for example the control of air conditioning units which can be switched on prior to a family arriving home or prior to someone going to sleep. He said that users can also control other devices such as washing machines to take advantage of cheap power.

“This technology allows users to cut electricity costs. Where we use to sell 80 a month we are now selling 800” he said.

Shortly D Link Australia will release its first HomeKit-enabled home security camera. The new Omna 180 Cam HD is the first product in D-Link’s forthcoming Omna family of HomeKit-enabled devices. It will go on sale for the month in Australia exclusively via Apple Shops and their dealers.

ChannelNews recently saw and played with the device at CES 2017.

The cylindrical Omna 180 Cam HD features a 1080p camera with a 180-degree field of view, a built-in microphone and speaker with two-way audio, infrared night vision up to 16 feet, and motion detection with the option to record motion-triggered video clips directly to a microSDXC card up to 128GB with no subscription costs.omna4 D Link Grows By 19% As Consumers Take To Power Monitoring Devices

HomeKit support enables users to control the Omna 180 Cam HD with an iPhone or iPad through Apple’s Home app on iOS 10.

When the camera detects motion, users can receive Lock screen notifications to get a snapshot of what’s happening in their homes. The camera can also trigger Scenes with other HomeKit products.

Also, coming in 2017 is a new Taipan router that will compete with the new Netgear Orbi and the new Linksys Velop tri-band modular Wi-Fi solution which is also set to be launched in Australia.

According to Reardon the Taiwanese Company whose average selling price grew by 29% last year is looking to expand their retailer network while expanding into the small medium enterprise markets.

The Company is also looking to expand sales of their ‘Whole Home’ Network technology that automatically connect to the best Wi-Fi signal from one of their Whole Home Wi-Fi Router or Range Extenders, along with their home security cameras.

“while the networking marketing is growing overall we are getting excellent sell through of new IOT smart plug devices as well as networking accessories. During the past 12 months, we have seen tens of thousands of new notebooks sold without an Ethernet port. As a result, consumers are buying our USB Ethernet port adapter “said Reardon.

He said that later this year the Company will release a USB C Ethernet adaptor that includes three USB ports on the side of the adaptor.
