Foxtel will be launching the second series of reality TV show, ‘Rock Star,’ on July 5. The programme is one of many shows that Foxtel has secured exclusive programming rights to, following a number of distribution deals signed earlier this year.
The deal with Mark Burnett Productions allows Foxtel exclusive programming rights to reality shows Rock Star, The Apprentice and boxing reality series, The Contender.
Rock Star will see 15 rock-star-hopefuls battle it out for the role of lead singer for a new band called Supernova. The members of Supernova include drummer Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Jason Newsted (Metallica) and Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses).
Foxtel said the episodes will be broadcast just hours after they air in the US, allowing Australian viewers to participate in the worldwide voting process to choose the winning artist.
Rock Star premieres on Fox8 on July 5 at 8:30pm.
