UPDATED: Gear4 has begun selling its universal remote system for iPhones, iPods and iPads to Australians with the release of the UnityRemote.
The UnityRemote is a small, round unit that connects to Apple devices via Bluetooth which can then control devices around the room through Infra Red (IR).
The rounded, black device has a 360 degree IR sensor that projects across the room to reach all devices in line-of-sight.
Users download the UnityRemote app from iTunes to control the device from their Apple devices. Pay TV, DVD players, stereos and other IR devices are then controlled by the one remote – be it an iPhone, iPod or iPad.
Commands on the app can be customised to create macros that do multiple jobs at the push of fewer buttons.
The 51 x 64 mm device runs on three AA batteries.
The UnityRemote is going for $199 through independent Mac resellers, Beyond the Box stores, and Wow Sight and Sound stores.
