It looks like Huawei will join ranks with LG in supporting Googles Android Wear 2.0 with a new smartwatch, called the Huawei Watch 2.<p style="border: 0px rgb(229, 229, 229); outline: 0px; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; margin: 0px 0px 25px; padding: 0px; font-family: FrutigerLT-Roman;">A follow up to last years device, its expected to be revealed at this years Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Prominent tech writer Evan Blass cites inside sources and claims that the new wearable will feature a sportier metalic look with a 1.4-inch display.
He says Huawei are banking on the addition of cellular connectivity to help inspire interest in consumers.
It`ll run on Android Wear 2.0 but, beyond that, very little is known. Expect further details to trickle out when Google unveil the new version of their smartwatch OS in early-February.
It’s unknown what new features the software update will bring to Android Wear users but Google recently acquired startup Chronologic to assist with development.
LG is also expected to debut a pair of new smartwatches at the event.
Additional reveals from major tech players like Motorola or Samsung are at this stage unlikely.
The Huawei Watch 2 itself is set for a reveal at this year`s Mobile World Congress, though sources say that this timeline might not be set in stone.
