Australian distributor Conexus is now selling Native Union’s Moshi Moshi line of phone handsets which have been described as one of the “coolest” of iPhone attach devices. The device which can be used with the new iPad 2 eliminates the dork look when holding an iPad up to your ear.The sexy looking MM03i Curve, handset allows users to mount their iPhone on a simple but smart looking base and then use the handset to take and make calls or alternatively connect it to another Bluetooth enable device for conference calls.
In our review of the product, we found instantly, that it was a lot more comfortable than an iPhone, when making a call. We also found that the wireless Bluetooth handset, which comes with it’s own base, eliminates the risk of hitting the mute button, which is a common problem with the iPhone, especially for women who have long hair.
We also found the handset considerably more comfortable than walking around home or the office with an iPhone attached to one’s ear.
Available in white or black, the handset and the base scream simple design and is stylish, while the plastic feels high quality. I first saw this device at CES 18 months ago and immediatly wanted one, and at $199, the reality is that it is the same as the cost of a couple of vistis to the Chirophractor for neck strain treatment.
There is no reason why this device cannot be linked to a PC or Mac for use on a Skype call.
Set up is easy. It took me 30 seconds to fully configure it and make my first call.
It also has an internal battery, which eliminates ugly cords. All you need to do is hook it up to a power source for charging. A full charge takes around 2 hours and lasts for more than 12 hours. A red LED indicator to let you know if it’s been off the cradle for too long.
On the centre of the handset, there are volume controls as well as a button that is used to pair the device via Bluetooth, be it to an iPhone, iPod, iPad, or PC or notebook.
All you do is press and hold the centre button on the handset until it chimes twice. You then select MOSHIMOSHI03 in the list of Bluetooth devices on your source device, and you’re ready to use the device to make calls.
To call someone, all you do is plug in the iPhone to the base and make a call or simple pick up the iPhone and dial. This allows you to switch to the handset when the call is answered.
Another big advantage is that the MM03 supports two Bluetooth devices so you can connect a PC or iPad as well as an iPhone.
Audio quality is as good as a wired headset, with volume controlled via the handset.
This is a highly practical device that has been well thought out. It’s functional across several devices other than an iPhone and looks good whether it is in a kitchen or on an office desk.
On the downside, well there are none, because this device is one of those rare products that does exactly what it is designed to do and is simple to use. It can be configured easily and used across multiple devices as well as the Internet using Skype.
