Nobbled by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission for questionable advertising, slammed by people who have bought his TVs online, Ruslan Kogan, the Melbourne owner of Kogan Technology who loves to see his own name in print, is now attempting to get publicity out of the Wikileaks saga by launching a new web site called TradeLeaks.
The only problem is that consumers are taking pot shots at him and his organisations as well as a host of other retailers and vendors.
One writer accuses Kogan of selling “Seconds”. They write “Ever wondered how Kogan can get such good prices on TV sets? They buy seconds from the screen producers under the strict instruction of not disclosing which manufacturer they are buying from. Have a close look at your Kogan screen and see how badly the colour varies from corner to corner”.
Another person wrote “This Site (Tradeleaks) is the worst”. They went on to say “Of all the internet sites out there this site must be the worst. All you have is a collection of idiots and immature people posting rubbish about absolute nothingness. I only came here after I saw it on Sunrise. What a waste of internet space”.
Kogan has also been accused of writing anonymous comments on his own site. As for Kogan TVs, readers are not impressed. One writer wrote:
Kogan TVs are just so low quality and terrible. I’m not sure who his suppliers are in China but boy his stocks are as good as s**t.
Another reader tells visitors to the site “Don’t buy Kogan and don’t get ripped off.
Kogan who is arch enemy number one at Harvey Norman also had a visitor write “Harvey Norman is Awesome” I just love shopping at Harvey Norman it has the biggest brands and the best prices and I can actually see what it is before I buy it – Awesome!
Under the headline “This site is a Rip-off” one visitor writes “This site is crap and is just a copy of Wikileaks”.
It was not just Kogan TVs that came in for a bashing. On the site his digital cameras also got a big serve.
Under the headline “Kogan digital video cameras are sh!t” one owner writes “You will never believe this….Kogan stuff is really cheap and really sh!t. I bought a digital video camera and it was a right old piece of cr@p.
Kogan is not returning our calls.
