LG has sought to lift its struggling mobile comms division with a new gesture controlled device, teased in a Mobile World Congress (MWC) promo video with the tagline “Goodbye Touch.”

The thirteen-second video displays a hovering hand, fuelling rumours it will launch a device called the ‘LG Premiere’ next month.

Back in 2013, the company enabled gesture controls on several international TVs, enabling users to control an on-screen cursor with their hands.

Whilst gesture control technology isn’t particularly revolutionary in the smartphone world – used by the likes of Google and its Pixel phones – commentators whether the device will relate to LG’s first foldable phone.
