Microsoft has begun selling Windows Mixed Reality headsets through its online store.
Windows Mixed Reality Developer Edition headsets manufactured by Acer and HP are now on sale through the US Microsoft Store website for US$299 and US$329 respectively.
Both headsets feature similar technology, including two 1440×1400 LCD displays, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 95-degree field of view, and HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 connectivity.
As their names suggest, the headsets are aimed at developers, but Neowin reported anybody is able to purchase them through the online store. At this point, the HP headset is currently out of stock.
A computer with a Intel i7 6+ core or AMD Ryzen 7 1700 8-core processor and a high-end GPU is recommended by Microsoft to power the headsets, putting them out of the reach of most consumers.
Microsoft Store Australia currently lists both headsets as available for pre-order before a release date of October 17. The Acer headset is selling for $649 and the HP for $599.
