Several days after being leaked on Twitter, Motorola’s next MotoMod, the Moto 360, has been officially unveiled at an event in Ghana.
As reported by TechDroider, “The Moto 360 is a 360-degree Camera module with two lenses which gets attached to the 16-pins magnetic connector of the Moto Z.”
The announcement comes several days after infamous leaker Evan Blass posted an image of the accessory on his Twitter feed.

It also comes several weeks after Android co-creator Andy Rubin launched his new venture, branded Essential. Like the Motorola’s recent efforts, the Essential Smartphone relies on modular external attachments to add new features. See an image of the Essential 360-degree camera below:
While the dedicated 360-degree camera market has experienced a rapid deceleration in growth in recent years, figures in the telecomms industry believe that the format will survive through widespread adoption in smartphones.
Boost Mobile co-founder and former CEO of 360Fly Peter Adderton says that the future of the the format is not as an accessory but rather as a function integrated into the camera of modern smartphones.
“360, the format, is going to be huge,” he said back in February.
Though only available in China, ProTruly’s recent Darling smartphone hints at what this could look like, fully integration a 360-degree camera unit without compromising the form-factor of the device.
Australian pricing and availability has yet to be confirmed. Expect more news when the company’s flagship Moto Z2 gets officially announced.
