Taiwanese PC manufacturer, MSI, has been named the world’s fastest growing gaming monitor brand in 2018 – 2019, according to latest numbers from analytics firm WitsView of Trendforce.
The company also notched second place in the global curved gaming monitor market, alongside the highest growth rate of gaming monitors – all within two years.
Samsung Display, Large Display Sales & Marketing SVP, Oh Seob Lee, asserts the company will continue working closely with MSI, citing its strong assessment of gamer needs:
“As the biggest provider of curved panels in the world, we are glad that gamers and manufacturers now realize the benefits of curved monitors.”
“And we will continue working closely with MSI in the future.”
“Their effort in creating the best curved gaming monitors that can provide stunning visual experiences also directly boosts the growth of the curved monitor market,” he adds.
Latest research claims curved gaming monitors take up to 60% of the global monitor market.
MSI asserts it has a “complete roadmap” for its 24-inch to 34-inch monitors, and plans to incorporate high-resolution gaming monitors with big panels into its product portfolio.
Examples include MSI’s new Optix MPG341CQR gaming monitor, which offers 34-inch big panels, alongside HDR 400, 1ms response time, 144Hz refresh rate, plus GameSense and facial recognition.
The company claims to also have an “increasing influence” in the eSport market for standard flat panel gaming monitors.
MSI received further brand exposure after its Oculux NXG251R – with 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time – was used by professional gamers at the MSI MGA and ESL One.
The new Oculux NXG252R and Oculux MAG271R offer faster responses times than predecessors, and incorporate MSI’s exclusive gaming OSD app to provide the best gaming experience for players.
In addition to revamping monitor specs, MSI has also sought to improve software integration, with its exclusive Micro Control Unit (MCU) enhancing desktop communication.
Whilst WitsView awarded “dark horse” MSI first place in gaming monitor market growth, market leaders ASUS and ACER have retained their lead in gaming monitor shipments for 2018.
During 2018, global gaming monitor shipments soared 112% year-on-year to 5.4 million units.
The analytics firm forecasts gaming monitor shipments to lift 46% year-on-year to 7.9 million units in 2019.
