InFocus has introduced a new 1080p DLP front projector in its home theatre-targeted Play Big series.
The Play Big IN82, which ships in September is billed as the company’s “highest performing, single-chip DLP home theater projector” in its history. Local distributor International Dynamics failed to return calls so we are not able to reveal the local launch date or pricing. This is not uncommon with International Dynamics, which appears to be facing several business hurdles caused by a major restructuring of the business.
The projector features DarkChip3 DLP technology from Texas Instruments, and produces a 4,000:1 native contrast ratio that can be boosted to a maximum of 12,000:1 virtual contrast using iris control techniques.
The projector’s cabinet features high-gloss, black finish and sleek styling design.
Brightness can be boosted to 1,500 Max ANSI lumens and colors can be adjusted to 6500 degrees Kelvin for strong picture performance even in ambient light conditions, InFocus said.
Other features include a Color Gamut Calibrator and Imaging Science Foundation day & night presets to allow installers to “lock in” optimized calibration settings for consumers, adding to the projector’s incredible ease-of-use.
The Play Big IN82 incorporates Pixelworks’ DNX 10-bit video processing technology and HDMI 1.3 input with Deep Color support (1.07 billion colors).
