The latest foray into the mystic world of Middle Earth for gamers is set to hit Australia a day after the US release – and this time there’s a little more in the way of production value than previous movie spin-offs.The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is an action RPG that blends typical levelling, co-op gameplay and experience elements of other RPGs, titbits of action titles like God of War and morality-influenced conversations ala Mass Effect.
The reinvigorated series comes after a trail of less-than-moving Lord of the Rings-branded titles that spewed out of game studios after the trilogy’s theatrical release.
On the back of Warner Bros (who brought you the F.E.A.R. series) and their not-too-recently acquired Snowblind Studios development studio, the upcoming game looks to have a clear layer of polish to it.
Gamers can expect the title on November 2 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows. A collector’s edition, like most releases nowadays, is also up for grabs, including an art book, downloadable content, behind-the-scenes footage and more.
