Tyler Mcgee the Vice President of Samsung Australia’s Communications division won’t even give a hint of when the new Galaxy S3 smartphone will be released, however Telstra sources who need a device for up to 14 weeks prior to a network release are saying consumers can expect to see the device “in the first half of 2012”.
The 2012 sequel to the highly popular Galaxy S3 is the phone that Apple fears with analysts predicting that a lot of consumers who are coming off 24 month iPhone contracts will switch to the new Samsung device.
I am tipping an April May launch with a June July on sale date.
If the S2 is anything to go by the S3 is set to break new ground with improvements to the super slim form factor found in theS2. There will a faster processor with some tipping quad core, improved display screen and a bigger megapixel camera and a new TouchWiz interface.
Out of all the smartphone manufacturers Samsung has done an excellent job in developing integrated software applications that deliver an improved experience when using the phone, searching contacts, messaging and emailing.
With the new Galaxy Note all the numbers are above the letters, there is also an @ symbol and .com button which eliminates the need to key back to a number or symbol interface.
The device will be 4G and run on Android 4.03, it will also have a new 8 megapixel camera at a minimum and the possibility of a 12 megapixel offering.
Under the bonnet could be an Exynos 4412 chipset with quad-core capability and speeds of 1.5GHz.
Another minimum will be 1GB of Ram and 16 GB of storage. There will also be options to upgrade storage.
Or they could use the dual-core Exynos 4212, with a dual-core ARM9 chipset that is significantly faster than the current S2 or a newer Exynos 5250 chipset which can be upgraded to 2GHz.
Samsung Galaxy S3 display
Currently I am using the new Galaxy Note with the 5.3″ screen and despite being curious prior to the CES Show where I first saw the Note device I have found that the 5.3″ screen is not as cumbersome in the hand as I first suspected.
As for the new Galaxy S3 there is every possibility that users could end up with a 4.7″ or 4.6″ SUPER AMOLED edge to edge screen which because of the weight of the device will feel extremely comfortable in the hand and excellent on the eyes.
It will also have Full HD 1080p resolution and 16:9 aspect ratios.
