Netgear has released two products that increase the value of a small-to-medium-sized business network by improving network performance, which increases staff productivity.
The Layer 2 Managed Gigabit Switches are the first Netgear switches to offer static routing and are available in 24- and 48-port configurations. Static routing helps communication between network devices in different VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) and speeds up the movement of data around the network. The protocol is also far simpler for network managers to set-up when compared with dynamic routing.
The 24-Port GSM7224R ProSafe Switch and the 48-Port GSM7248R ProSafe Switch are ideal for high-performance work-groups at the edge of the network, or as a backbone for fast Ethernet switches and high-speed servers in demanding small-to-medium-sized networks.
To further enhance the plug-and-play usability of these appliances, Netgear has designed a new web-based management Graphical User Interface (GUI) called ProSafe Control Centre. The GUI enables IT administrators to easily configure and optimise network performance, on-site and remotely, to suit the changing demands of their networks.
The full set of Layer 2 management features provide a secure network foundation that can cope with the demands of simultaneous data, wireless, video and IP Communications — services that can slow network throughput and response time. The Layer 2 management features enable IT administrators to optimise bandwidth, security and performance to ensure the network is keeping up with demand. The GSM7224R and GSM7248R will interoperate with any SNMP-based (Simple Network Management Protocol) management software, including ProSafe Network Management Software (NMS100).
