Nokia is set to strengthen its return to the smartphone market with the release of a new flagship called the Nokia 8.
Following on the announcement of three lower-end smartphones set to hit Australia later this month, the new high-end Nokia-branded smartphone from Finnish company HMD Global will feature dual cameras according to a leaked image from VentureBeat.
The recently announced partnership between HMD Global and optics maker Zeiss appears to already have produced tangible results based on the Zeiss branding on the cameras of the smartphone. Leaked specifications indicate both cameras feature a 13-megapixel resolution. Prior to this leak, a dual-camera Nokia smartphone had also been sighted in a leaked image back in May.
Additional rumours about the smartphone indicate it will feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and HTC U11, as well as a QHD-resolution screen and 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
According to reports from WinFuture and other outlets, the smartphone will be launched on July 31st and will retail for €589 ($869). Along with the leaked blue colour, it is also expected to be available in steel, gold/blue and gold/copper.
