Samsung Electronics recently reached the one million mark for LCD TVs sold in its 8 series range.
According to iSuppli, the number of LCD units sold globally exceeded 19.6 million: so out of every 20 LCDs sold, one was a Samsung. In the mobile phone market, Samsung has sold over ten million SGH-E700 camera phones.
Samsung’s John Revie said “Samsung is elated to see its award-winning 8 Series LCD TVs surpass the one-million-units sold mark. This global accomplishment reaffirms Samsung’s place as a pioneer of superior design, quality and affordability in consumer electronics”.
The 8 series, which reached the market in February 2005, includes a 23, 26, 32 and 40 inch screen. One of Samsung’s features with this is the Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) screen for a contrast ratio of 3000:1. Samsung claims this gives brighter whites, deeper blacks and truer reproduction of every shade in-between than previous models.
