Three new business notebook series, including a stylish ultra-light Tablet PC, is now offered by HP, further complementing its comprehensive portfolio of mobile offerings.
Featuring a sleek new look, the HP Compaq 2710p Notebook PC is an ultra-thin convertible notebook that combines conventional notebook productivity with tablet PC flexibility. The 12.1-inch diagonal widescreen Illumi-Lite (LED backlight) display delivers a lighter and more energy-efficient notebook, with the chemically-strengthened glass top providing improved durability and an enhanced writing experience, the company says.
HP also says that the HP Compaq 2710p joins the HP Compaq 8510 series and HP Compaq 8710 series which are designed for business users looking for a high performance notebook or mobile workstation.
HP Australia’s Market Development Manager for Commercial Notebooks, Jerel Chong said, “The latest business notebooks offer customers greater choice – whether they prefer ultra-portability, high performance or a notebook that combines a balance of features, HP has a notebook to suit their needs. Starting at only 1.65 kg, this convertible tablet transforms from an ultra-light notebook PC into a pen-based tablet with a twist of the screen. An optional ultra-slim battery accessory allows users to enjoy up to 10 hours battery life and a convenient ultra-slim docking solution features an integrated DVD+/-RW drive. In addition, it offers an optional integrated camera for convenient video conferencing and image capture, HP NightLight on the keyboard to improve visibility in low light and integrated business card reader software.

The 8710 series is HP’s most powerful business notebook PC and mobile workstation as it offers the highest-end, independent software vendor-certified NVIDIA 3D graphics, a high-resolution 17-inch diagonal widescreen display and a full-size keyboard with numeric keypad. Users can work in a true 64-bit computing environment with support for up to 4 gigabytes of memory to run the most demanding applications. The mobile workstation also offers HP Performance Tuning Framework, a free, easy-to-use tool that guides workstation setup and custom configures workstations to better match users’ requirements.

This notebook PC and mobile workstation offer a choice of intense graphics from ATI and NVIDIA in a 2.77 kg highly mobile design. Users can also develop, record, re-write and playback high-definition video, as well as store up to 50 GB of data, with optional Blu-ray DVD+/-RW SuperMulti DL Drive with any of the new high-performance notebook PCs and mobile workstations.
HP’s business notebook line-up include:
- Intel Centrino Pro Mobile technology, which offers built-in remote manageability and proactive security.
- HP’s Out of Band Management Console, a component of HP’s Software’s PC Configuration Management Solution, allows users to take advantage of Intel Centrino Pro Mobile technology to reduce the need for desk-side visits, improve security by protecting PCs from malware and help ensure that critical management agents are up and running.
- Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools, a full volume encryption technology that renders the hard drive unreadable if the notebook or hard drive is lost or stolen. For additional security enhancements, customers can select models pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows Vista.
- HP DuraKeys, which HP claims to be 50 times more resistant to visible wear than competitor keyboards without it.
- HP QuickLook, which with a touch of a button allows users to browse email, calendars and contact information in as little as ten seconds. In addition to mobile broadband, they offer convenient connectivity solutions, including next-generation 802.11n WLAN and Bluetooth technologies.
